Scouting Christmas with Dzaleka Refugee Orphans

I was inspired by the challenges orphans in Dzaleka Refugee Camp face during Christmas. As a Scout leader, I wanted to bring them joy, hope, and a sense of belonging. My goal was to make their Christmas special and remind them that they are cared for and not alone or forgotten.
We organized a fundraising campaign with Scouts to collect support for orphans in Dzaleka Refugee Camp. We used the donations to provide food and gifts for the children and organized a Christmas celebration with games, music, and shared meals.
Through this project, I learned the importance of teamwork, leadership, and community support. I also learned that small acts of kindness can bring hope and happiness to vulnerable children. This experience strengthened my commitment to helping others through Scouting.
