Removal of Invasive Plant Species from Pulau Ubin's Butterfly Hill, Singapore

An Introduction to Environmental Service An initiation to look into environmental concerns and the threat to sustainability led to an engagement with the National Parks Board where we were directed to service on Pualu Ubin. The project involved extensive planning as well as correspondence with NParks. The event began on time and on target with the removal of invasive but the advent of poor weather due to forest fires in Indonesia leading to Haze cut the activity short, forcing us home to the mainland. The service event forced us to be meticulous on our selective removal of plants as well as careful and complete in the removal of invasive species. The event taught us the importance of maintaining a suitable habitat, not just for the butterflies but also ourselves, by extension or metaphor.
