HeforShe Tlalpan is a project developed by three scouts; Grecia Juárez, Carlos Meraz, and Xiazu Cuellar who belong to the groups 170 and 32 of the Tlalpan scout province, in Mexico.

The objectives were:

1.      To divulge the importance of gender equality, both within the scout movement and the society.

2.      Get involved and committed at least 3 groups from the Tlalpan scout province with the aim of the project.

3.      To get the scouts’ parents to know HeforShe, and create within them the initiative of a change.

The main reached audience was Caminantes (Venturers) and Rovers from different groups in the scout province, however, many scouts from all around Mexico and from many Latin American countries participated, of all ages and sections. Also, the scouts’ parents were often online with us.

To achieve the above objectives, HeforShe relied on virtual activities adapted to the current health contingency: through different digital platforms such as Zoom and Google Meets, informative sessions were carried out with the topics: Gender Equality and Equity, Stereotypes within the Society, Types of Discrimination and Gender Violence.
The themes were presented with dynamic activities developed specifically for the age range and interests of the public. In many of the sessions, an invited expert was there, who helped us clarify the terms and ideas regarding to the chosen topic. Besides, for each informative talk, the HeforShe Tlalpan work team made an exhaustive research in order to provide good quality, verified and truthful information.

On the other hand, to achieve a greater scope of the project, videos and infographics were made and published in the HeforShe Tlalpan’s Social Media profiles, on Facebook and Instagram. We also released a web site where people can contact us to make any question or suggestion. And to get a greater interest from the public, activities ad hoc to some holidays were carried out, such for Halloween and Christmas.

With all of the above and with commitment and responsibility from the HeforShe Tlalpan work team, it was possible to fulfill all the objectives and to contribute, as far as possible, to generate awareness about gender issues and create a better, more equal, and fair world.
