Plastic-Free Trails, Pristine Mountains
The Plastic-Free Mountains initiative was inspired by the growing threat of plastic pollution in fragile mountain ecosystems. Witnessing littered trails and its impact on wildlife and natural beauty, we felt the urgency to take action. Our goal is to restore the purity of these peaks, raise awareness, and encourage responsible tourism. Through collective efforts, we aim to protect mountains for future generations and promote sustainable, waste-free adventures.
The project was executed in Thiruvannamalai District (Parvatham Mountain) with the support of local communities and forest officers. Together, we organized cleanup drives, removed plastic waste, and promoted eco-friendly practices. By engaging volunteers and raising awareness, we encouraged responsible tourism and sustainable waste management. This initiative aimed to preserve the mountain’s natural beauty and protect its ecosystem for future generations.
Through this project, we learned the importance of community involvement in environmental conservation. Collaboration with local people and forest officers proved crucial in tackling plastic pollution. We realized that sustained awareness, responsible tourism, and strict waste management practices are essential to preserving natural ecosystems and keeping our mountains plastic-free.
