The Great Clean-Up (Rhinos)

As Part of the star patrol award in Scouts South Africa each patrol across the country is encouraged to complete 25 community service scout hours. This allong with the fact that community service counts towards all of our advancement levels, and multiple badges it motivated my patrol and I to set up a series of clean-ups over the following months. This is part one of what hopefully becomes many.
My patrol members met at the Swiss Country Club in Midrand for a community clean-up project. Each member was given a bin bag and gloves by our PL, and we cleaned along Moerdyk Street and Albertyn Street. As our bags filled, we returned to our cars to drop them off before continuing. All collected rubbish was later taken to the municipal dump. By working together, our patrol collected eight full bags of rubbish, making a noticeable difference to the amount of litter along the roadsides.
This project taught us the importance of teamwork and working together towards a common goal. We learned that even a small group can make a noticeable difference in the community when everyone contributes. We also gained a greater appreciation for keeping our environment clean and taking responsibility for the areas around us.
