French and Bolivian Rovers drawing smiles in El Alto - SW Voluntary Service
French & Bolivian Rovers drawing smiles in El Alto – A team of 8 girls, all Rovers in the Scouts et Guides de France association, went to Bolivia in 2013 as part of their Scouts of the World Award Voluntary Service.
They worked, together with Bolivian Rovers and the organization ENDA Bolivia (Environment and Development in Action), on the social reintegration of young girls who have suffered from violence, drugs, and/or lived in the streets. In the ENDA Centre of El Alto, they spent time having meaningful fun with the girls, created board games with them, and did some painting work. They also focused on raising awareness about the importance of solidarity, cultural pluralism, gender equality, and social justice. This experience enabled everyone to learn more about their two cultures, and created lasting friendships.
Today they trust their capacity to run service projects again and act as active world citizens!
-- More information:
Elise, Pimprenelle, Anne-Claire, Hélène (#1), Gabrielle, Géraldine, Coline and Hélène (#2) come from Cagne-sur-Mer, in France. As Venturer Scouts, they had already helped ENDA Bolivia.
It has been a lot of work for them to get prepared for their Scouts of the World Voluntary Service in Bolivia, but they don't regret it! Today, they would like to invite their Bolivian Scout friends to participate to the Roverway in 2016 (France). They also feel more open-minded, they want to travel, discover other countries. They want to inspire others to run projects and they feel more capable to run new service projects too!
