Eco Warriors: Chembarambakkam Cleanup Drive
The project was inspired by the urgent need to restore the natural beauty and ecological balance of Chembarambakkam Lake. Witnessing the pollution and its impact on local biodiversity and communities motivated us to take action. Through collective effort, we aimed to raise awareness and promote environmental responsibility among youth and the public.
We executed the project in collaboration with the Nandambakkam Village Panchayat President and enthusiastic volunteers. After site assessment, we organized teams for waste collection and segregation. Safety gear was provided, and waste was handed over to the Tambaram Solid Waste Management Centre. The combined efforts ensured a successful and impactful cleanup of Chembarambakkam Lake.
Through this project, we learned the value of community collaboration, environmental responsibility, and the power of collective action. It deepened our understanding of lake ecosystems and the urgent need for sustainable waste management. Most importantly, it inspired us to become active changemakers, proving that even small efforts can lead to meaningful environmental impact.
