Dogwood Trees for Historic Hanover County, VA Courthouse

Dogwood Trees for Historic Hanover County, VA Courthouse

At Historic Hanover County, VA Courthouse planted 4 ten-foot Flowering Dogwood (Cornus florida) to replace older trees that had died in cooperation with the Hanover County Parks and Recreation Department. The trees were sourced locally and represent both the Virginia State Tree and the Virginia State Flower. The area had heavy rains for several days prior to our activities which allowed for easy evacuation of the holes for the trees. We mixed in peat moss and refilled the holes and provided plenty of mulch. Many thanks to Greg Sager, Director, Hanover County Parks and Recreation for letting us participate in this project. Also, many thanks to our Den 2 Bears - Glenn, Jonathan, Thorn, Alex, Kaleb, and Hilton, and dads who worked hard to brighten the Court House. Patrick Henry would be proud! Kathy Burt is our Den 2 Den Leader and Roy Page is our Assistant Den Leader.
