Clean for Peace: Uniting Communities

What inspired you to take up the project?

Our motivation for organizing this cleaning campaign was to show that peace begins with small, meaningful actions. By coming together to clean our school, we wanted to promote a sense of unity, responsibility, and respect for our shared environment. Celebrating International Peace Day through a hands-on activity reminded us that creating a peaceful world starts with caring for the spaces we live and learn in. It was not just about cleaning—it was about working together for a common good.

What are the learnings you got from implementing this project and how would you make it better?

Through this project, we learned the power of teamwork and how small actions can lead to big impacts. Working together to clean our school taught us the importance of responsibility, cooperation, and caring for our environment. We also realized that peace is not just about avoiding conflict—it’s about creating a clean, safe, and respectful space for everyone. Most importantly, we saw how united efforts can bring positive change to our school community.

Where was your project implemented and how did you execute it?

We conducted our cleaning campaign during the last period of the school day, which was dedicated to club activities. The event took place at Jigme Namgyel Lower Secondary School and followed a whole-school approach, involving around 1,000 students. Each class was assigned specific areas to clean, including classrooms, corridors, and the school surroundings. This campaign, held in celebration of International Peace Day, aimed to promote unity, responsibility, and peace through collective action.
