Vita Nova Centre Sensory Garden

Vita Nova is a care centre for mentally and physically disabled children and adults East of Johannesburg. This project started as a collaboration between Gauteng Rovers and the Rotary E-club of East Rand. The local Round Table chapter and a community theatre group also contributed resources and labour.
The Rotary E-club of East Rand carried out planning and co-ordinated the resources from the various donors. Rovers provided design input, labour to paint walls and floors, including decorative murals, and helped to assemble the sensory boards on removable timber pallets.
This project has led to an ongoing partnership between Scouts South Africa and Rotary District 9400, including 4 service projects that formed part of the 2nd Africa Scout Moot. Rovers have returned over the course of 6 months to provide additional labour at this site.
