Urban Hike : We walk through challenges together
This activity aimed to build their confidence and equip them with essential life skills, enabling them to navigate busy urban areas independently and responsibly. While the addition of tea making competition also helped them to learn and showcase their teamwork skills.
Urban Hike is a program in which scouts explore urban areas while engaging in practical, real-life learning experiences. During this event, participants from different school troops collaborated in teams and took part in a tea making competition. The scouts also followed typical hiking signs throughout the activity, enhancing their navigation skills and understanding of trail communication.
This project was truly eye opening, as it highlighted that although we often assume children are well aware of urban environments, there are still many essential aspects they need to learn. It emphasized the importance of ensuring that children understand key elements of city life, including safety measures and navigation. Additionally, it reinforced the need for them to know where to seek help or whom to contact if they ever get lost in the area where they live.
