Siyakhula - "We grow"

Siyakhula is a project led by Scouter Chantal. The project is aimed at youth aged 16 to 17 from Msogwaba Scouts Unit. The youth participated in a three day computer course, held at Manzini Primary school. The course was designed to teach computer literacy. On the first day of the course, 32 participants turned up, 16 Scouts and 16 of their friends. The youth learned about different components of a computer, the main programs and their purpose. On the second day the youth learned practical skills and not only did they learn about computers but they were also taught writing skills. Youth learned how to write a formal letter, they were tasked to write Curriculum Vitae, motivational letter and a letter to Eskom on behalf of the parents asking to restore electricity at their respective homes. The last day of the training focused on spreadsheet calculations and PowerPoint presentation and towards the end participants were task to design a certificate for a local school soccer tournament. The course turned out to be a success, and all participants had great fun learning new skills.
