Scouts For Youth In Entrepreneurship

In Ghana, youth unemployment is a major task for government because most youth complete tertiary education and remain jobless. The novel Covid-19 pandemic that has rocked the entire world has also collapsed businesses leaving no exception to Scouts. It is in this regard that Ghana Scout Association embarked on this entrepreneurial training project to empower Scouts to be self reliance economically.
The project was executed at the Girl Guide Center at Achimota ,a suburb in Accra. The project started with the recruiting process through the Regional Commissioners across the regions of Ghana, The association partnered with Ghana Enterprises Agency, the agency responsible for small scale enterprises. Some of the scouts involved in entrepreneurship were also engaged as facilitators. Participants prepared liquid soaps, dettol (disinfectants)bathing gel, hand sanitizers and parazone for cleaning
The project has so far impacted about two thousand scouts across the regions
During the project execution, it was released that some scouts really lost their jobs during the covid-19 and need something to survive on. Also it was learned that some of the participants were already engaged in some entrepreneurship but had additional vital information which will help them to do better
