Scouts in Service: Supporting a Safe, Clean and Meaningful Tshechu
The Scout motto, “Once a Scout, Always a Scout,” reminded us that the spirit of service continues beyond regular Scout activities. The Tshechu provided an opportunity to put this value into practice by supporting the community during an important cultural celebration. We were motivated to contribute our time and effort to ensure that the event was safe, organized, clean and enjoyable for everyone.
The project was carried out during the Shakshing Tshechu, where Scouts worked alongside Scout leaders and other volunteers to support the event. We helped collect litter and papers from the event area to maintain cleanliness and encouraged people to dispose of waste responsibly. We also assisted with crowd management, helping control overcrowding and guiding visitors when necessary. Through these activities, the Scouts worked together to support the smooth and safe conduct of the Tshechu while serving the local community.
The project contributed to making the Tshechu cleaner, safer and better organized for participants and visitors. By collecting litter, supporting crowd management and guiding members of the public, the Scouts helped reduce environmental pollution and improve the overall experience of the event. The initiative also demonstrated the continued commitment of Scouts to community service and cultural events. Most importantly, it provided Scouts with an opportunity to practice leadership, teamwork and responsibility while living the Scout value of service to others.
Through this project, I learned the importance of community service, teamwork, discipline and responsibility. Supporting the Tshechu showed us that Scouts can make a meaningful contribution through simple but important actions such as guiding people, managing crowds and keeping public spaces clean. I also learned that effective teamwork and communication are essential when working in a busy environment. In the future, we would improve the initiative by involving more Scouts and volunteers, assigning responsibilities in advance and providing better coordination and awareness on waste management and crowd safety.
