"Scout Sweep at Shaheed Minar"
We noticed the Sylhet Central Shaheed Minar was dirty due to frequent events in July. As Rover Scouts, we felt responsible to keep this national place clean. Our values of civic duty and respect for heritage inspired us to act.
A 20-member team from the Metropolitan University Rover Scout Group conducted a cleaning campaign at Sylhet Central Shaheed Minar. Using gloves, masks, and waste bags, the team collected and properly disposed of approximately 40 kg of waste. The activity benefited nearly 300 visitors and community members by creating a cleaner environment and spreading awareness about cleanliness and waste management. The campaign was successfully completed in one day through teamwork and proper safety measures.
This project taught us the importance of civic responsibility and teamwork. We learned that small actions, like cleaning a public space, can inspire greater community awareness. It also strengthened our leadership, time management, and problem-solving skills as we worked together to serve our city.
