Rover Mission: Mosquito Zero
As Rover Scouts, we believe in serving where help is most needed. While dengue awareness is visible in many city areas, we noticed that prisons remain largely ignored in such efforts.
This gap inspired us to act.
Seeing the health risks faced by inmates and staff, we took the initiative to conduct a dengue awareness and mosquito control campaign in Sylhet Bandar Jail — ensuring that no one is left behind when it comes to health and safety.
We, a team of 10 Rover Scouts, obtained permission from the Sylhet Bandar Jail authority and conducted mosquito control activities with their support. Using spray machines, we targeted areas prone to mosquito breeding.
We also spoke with inmates and staff to raise awareness about dengue prevention, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness and avoiding stagnant water.
Our goal was to reduce health risks through both action and education.
We learned that true service means reaching those often left behind. Working in a prison setting taught us the value of inclusion in public health.
The project strengthened our teamwork and leadership skills, and showed us how small, purposeful actions can make a big difference.
