A Piece of Trash with a Value of Gold.

I was inspired by the wise words of His Majesty The Fifth Druk Gyalpo, who reminds us that if we begin any work, we must give it our 100%. His Majesty also emphasizes that the future of our country lies in the hands of young people. These teachings motivated me to step forward, volunteer, and contribute to my community with dedication and responsibility.

The project was carried out during the Zhemgang Tshechu, where the scouts and youth volunteers of Zhemgang dedicated three full days to volunteering. Our main focus was keeping the festival area clean and maintaining proper waste management. We collected waste, monitored disposal points, and ensured the surroundings remained neat and pleasant for visitors throughout the event. By working together and coordinating our efforts, we were able to manage the environment effectively despite the large crowd.

The project created a noticeable positive impact on the community and the festival atmosphere. The Tshechu grounds remained clean and welcoming, which improved the experience for both locals and visitors. Our efforts also encouraged people to be more mindful of proper waste disposal, helping to promote environmental responsibility. The teamwork and commitment displayed by the youth volunteers inspired others to value cleanliness and community service. Overall, the project not only protected the environment but also strengthened the culture of volunteerism among young people.

Through this project, I gained several valuable lessons, including improved communication skills from coordinating with fellow scouts and volunteers, increased confidence in taking responsibility and leading small tasks, and a stronger sense of motivation and teamwork as we worked together with a shared purpose. To make this project even more effective in the future, I would involve a larger number of community volunteers, create greater awareness about proper waste disposal, and introduce waste segregation practices to enhance the overall waste management process.
