Nature Clean Up
Our Cub National Challenge provides excellent ideas and programmes to follow that align with the Sustainable Development Goals. However, we do regularly complete various community cleanups and projects as part of our programme.
As part of our National Challenge for Cubs, we initiated a nature clean-up at a local park near our Scout Hall (Hymany Park). Our Cubs also prepared "Joburg Rocks". These are rocks with messages of affirmation that are hidden around the park area for others to find. We also searched and found two rocks.
To always carry rubbish collection materials with us when we are out hiking or on outings. We have gone on 3 other hikes since and the Cubs continue to pick up rubbish as a matter of course when out and about. It also sets a good example for others who notice the behaviour.
