Increasing the population of native bees in our community

After planting nearly 200 native trees in our community area, it was about time to increase the population of native bees. Brazil has about 1,700 native species (and about 300 of them are stingless bees, the focus of our project), while people only remember the Apis mellifera, which is a foreign specie. We started this project with a non-governamental institution (SOS Resgate de Abelhas Sem Ferrao) in order to bring up the subject into our group. After a class session, we were outside and started doing what we like the most: the project itself. We also were able to create a merit badge related to this topic, which was already approved by the Escoteiros do Brasil.
