Project came together over several years, with the boys hosting the Heart for Ugnada ministry on January 21, 2014. Cub Scouts of Pack 64 hosted Alissa Cooper Sande, of Heart for Uganda missionary ministry. Heart for Uganda fulfills its mission by rescuing the orphaned and vulnerable children, providing educational and medical services to the community, encouraging spiritual development through church and discipleship programs, offering employment opportunities, and inspiring children and adults by our words and actions. Ms. Sande spoke to the boys of her work with Ugandan orphans and of the importance of supporting those whose need is greater than their own. The boys had the privilege of introducing this ministry to their charter organization. The boys were able to raise several hundred dollars for the support of the ministry, which was then allotted to the individual Cub Scout Dens to distribute to needs of Heart for Uganda as they saw fit. The boys gave great thought as to how to distribute the funds according to the needs of the ministry. The boys continue to support the effort as an act of community service beyond their national boundaries, as does their Charter Organization.
