Healing Community
Boy Scout Troop 586 assisted its local community when a young 18 year old student died in a motor vehicle collision. The scouts helped organize a memorial service at the high school for the community. We met with an Army Chaplain, the students' father is a Chief Warrant Officer in the Army, and planned the memorial service. Our scouts served as ushers during the ceremony. Our troop also organized a reception to follow the memorial service. We reached out to the community and invited people to the event and organized those that wanted to support the family of the student with monetary or other donations. We served food during the reception, and cleaned up the school afterwards. Nearly 1000 people attended. Many people thanked the scouts for providing a way for them to show support for the family and helping heal our community
