GIVE BLOOD – SHARE LIFE Blood Donation Campaign

The "Give Blood – Share Life" Blood Donation Campaign was planned and organized community service project which was held on 13th of October 2023 that aimed at promoting awareness about the importance of blood donation and organizing blood donation campaigns within our community. The project engaged volunteers from our Scout Group and collaborate with local organizations to facilitate blood donations, ultimately contributing to the well-being of our community.

The blood donation campaign was conducted by the National Blood Center, Narahenpita, Colombo at S. Thomas Preparatory School Colombo 3 dining hall with 40 honorary donors. 32 units of blood were collected and 8 were rejected to quality control. The project was conducted by Senior Scout Dilvistor Robert as his President Scout Award Community Service Project. The entire project was coordinated by a number of Scouts in the Scout Group.

Number of Donors: 40 community members volunteered to donate blood. • Blood Units Collected: 32 units of blood were collected. (8 rejected) • Awareness: Significantly raised awareness about the importance of blood donation in the community. • Collaboration: Strengthened the relationship with National Blood Transfusion Service for future partnerships. • Helped meet the blood supply needs of local hospitals. • Encouraged first time donors to become regular blood donors.

To further improve future campaigns, consider the following recommendations: • Expand outreach: Utilize online platforms and mobile blood donation units to reach a larger audience. • Continuous engagement: Organize follow-up events or campaigns to keep the momentum going. • Partner with local businesses: Collaborate with local companies for sponsorships or promotional support.
