Cubs from the Garran Scout Group undertook a number of community service and fundraising activities: making toys for dogs for the RSPCA; selling bandanas to raise money for CanTeen (supporting young people living with or affected by cancer); collecting clothes and non-perishable food items for the charity Anglicare (to be distributed to disadvantaged families, particularly at Christmas time). Cubs sold bandanas and pens at a local shopping centre between 10am and 4pm—this was in the lead up to the annual CanTeen Bandana Day activities. To collect clothing and food for Anglicare, the Cubs spent one of the Cub meetings delivering plastic bags and notes into letterboxes in the streets surrounding the Garran Scout Hall. The notes asked residents to leave the bag with donated items at their front gate or door at a specified time. The Cubs collected these bags from outside people's homes during the following Cub Meeting. Between 14 and 24 Cubs were involved in each activity (with a total of 28 Cubs involved), and they accumulated a total of 108 hours.
