The Fantastic Race 2016

The Fantastic Race 2016

Based on the ‘Amazing Race’ TV show, the Fantastic race involves Scouts travelling in Patrols and completing a number of challenges in locations across Melbourne and beyond. The Patrols follow clues to navigate between the locations. Each and every year the location and challenges in the race change. In fact no two races have ever been the same. All the details are kept a very closely guarded secret right up until the race starts. And even then Patrols only receive one clue at a time as the race course reveals itself throughout the day. On Saturday night everyone comes together in a secret location and on Sunday morning everyone participates together in a surprise activity. The 2016 race involved approx. 270 Scouts from across the state and will continue to grow in 2017 Past races have included Scouts travelling all the way around the bay, venture to Bendigo, travelling to Ballarat, playing real life angry birds, bubble soccer, giant ball games, where's wally, ultimate frisbee competitions, racing billy cart races through city parks, diving competitions, paint bomb wars, ice skating, Luna Park rides, golf competitions, imax, jumping castles, ice blocking, Eureka Tower, wheelchair basketball, ferry rides to Williamstown, visiting the Werribee Zoo, beach volley ball competitions, McDonalds hunts and so much more. Scouts and particularly the Patrol Leaders work work together during the race, developing team work and leadership. It's a great opportunity for PLs to learn how to managing their Patrol in an unfamiliar environment, they do an amazing job.
