EcoSpiral Solar Heater

My project was inspired by the idea of creating a simple and sustainable way to heat water using solar energy. As Scouts, we wanted to promote environmental awareness and show that low-cost materials and renewable energy can be used in practical everyday solutions connected to the Sustainable Development Goals.
I’ve built a small solar water heater using a cardboard box, aluminum foil, transparent plastic, and a black hose arranged in a spiral inside the box. The system was placed under direct sunlight, where the hose absorbed heat and transferred it to the water. We measured the water temperature before and after the experiment to evaluate the project’s efficiency and learn more about clean energy.
Through this project, I’ve learned how renewable energy can be used in simple and sustainable ways with low-cost materials. We also developed teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills while building and testing the solar heater. The experience helped us better understand the importance of clean energy and how small actions can contribute to environmental sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals.
