Dengue Survey & Poster Sticking

We were inspired by the rising dengue cases in our region and the realization that many families simply didn't know how to protect themselves. After gathering at the den, we glued informational posters to the community walls to create a constant visual reminder, then went door-to-door. We wanted to turn our concern into direct, neighborhood-wide action before the peak breeding season hit.

We executed the project by gathering at the Scout Den to collect our survey sheets, pamphlets, and posters. Before kicking off the door-to-door visits, we stuck informative posters on prominent community walls to grab the public's attention. We then split into small teams, visiting each home to fill out the survey logs while directly educating residents on eliminating breeding sites.

Sticking posters on the walls before starting our survey taught us the power of setting the stage. When residents saw the visual aids around their neighborhood first, they were much more willing to open their doors and talk. We learned that a community is far more receptive to a health survey when they can see the purpose of your visit clearly displayed right in their own environment.
