Construction of Waste segregation shed

The school was facing a waste management issue due to the lack of proper disposal shed. An idea of the construction of a segregation shed came after attending the Upshift workshop so that the school can manage the waste issues easily and also store different wastes separately for reuse and recycle.
The small project initiated by the Upshift focal included all the staff and the Nachung scouts. The scouts helped in the foundation and gathering of stones and other essential materials. The main task was carried by the staff.

This project mainly focused on the proper collection, separation, and storage of different types of waste generated within the school premises. The waste was carefully separated into different categories, such as paper, plastic, glass, and bottles, to make waste management more organized and effective. By keeping different types of waste separately, we were able to make it easier to reuse, recycle, or dispose of the waste in an appropriate manner.

The activity also aimed to maintain a clean, green, and healthy school environment at all times. Students were encouraged to take responsibility for the waste they produced and to avoid littering in and around the school premises. Through regular collection and proper storage of waste, we were able to reduce litter and keep the school surroundings neat and pleasant.

More importantly, the project helped create awareness among students about the importance of waste segregation and environmental protection. It encouraged everyone to develop responsible habits and understand that keeping the school clean is a shared responsibility. In this way, the project contributed to creating a cleaner, greener, and healthier environment for students, teachers, and the entire school community.
