Community development project: Shelter in Gorkha, Nepal
A waiting shed to a pass way to Gorkhakali Temple and Gorkha Fort has been constructed. The F-NPP team visited the site including two members of the Finnish Project group. The day in Gorkha was beautiful and sunny for observing the outcome of the project.
The objectives of the project were to promote site and scouting and to increase the number of tourists at Gorkha Durbar. About 20 energetic and active scouts were selected to help in constructing the site with the assistant of external experts. The local scout troop has been given the responsibility for the maintenance of the shed. After 5 to 6 months the local community will take the charge of maintenance of the shed.
Location was chosen in an excellent way, about half way and had amazing view. Site is owned by Nepalese government.
Project went well in general and the project was conducted on time. The team interviewed local scouts about the waiting shed and these things were said:
It is increasing the attraction towards scouting
People get rest while visiting the temple and after visiting the temple they'll tell about it to others
This Project helps us to develop our community and society.
