Communication- One Method of Healing
Kinley, a 40 year old man is still in the orthopaedic ward since 2010 in Jigme Dorji Wangchuk National Referral Hospital, Thimphu. He is a pareplegia patient ever since he encountered motor vehicle accident in 2010.
I met him when I started my training practice in nursing in year 2014.
He has a wife, a daughter and a son. He was the backbone of the family but now he lay on in bed hoping that someday he will be able to stand and work and support his family like before.
I may not be able to do anything with his disability but whenever i am free, I visit just to talk with him and take him around the hospital so that he does not get bored in the hospital. I sometimes take him to the nearby chorten-Stupa to make rounds and prayers...
He feels happy and sometimes I take fruits for him too. Recently I took apples for him from my garden and he was happy. When I go and visit him i talk with him for sometime asking how is he and how is he feeling.... I sometimes even accompany him to the physiotherapy unit which has improved him a lot.
My service still continues for him....
