Anzac Day Service @ George Vowell Aged Care Facility Mt Eliza
The 1st Ranelagh Cubs along with Some Joeys and Scouts attended the Aged Care facility to conduct service for the residents.
The facility asked us to come along as they didn't have a service organised for them, we had several Cubs, and Scout read the passages related to the Anzac spirit.
The Cubs and Scouts made a flag pole into the building using their construction skills as the facility flag pole was to far away for the residents to get to or see from inside.
This was a very special event for the elderly residents as we have been going the their home for the past 4 years on Anzac day and the youth members sing songs and read story books to the residents.
This year our Chief Scout Ambassador presented a Victorian State Community Scarf to a 96 year old WWII veteran, who was also a former Scout Leader in the 1950's.
The object of the visits to this facility are very simple for us - The youth need to interact with the elderly members of our world ands that they feel not the forgotten 'old people' and the value of family, friendship and respect of all ages
