Africa NSOs Humanitarian Action Capacity Building

Africa Region NSOs participate in Humanitarian Action capacity building and policy development projects. Over the course of 2022, five different NSOs from the Africa Region have participated in a WOSM Service related to capacity building in humanitarian action, and the development of a National Policy related to humanitarian action for their organisations. Supported by the generous funding of Alwaleed Philanthropies, the NSOs in Burundi, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, and Zambia undertook in-person capacity-building training on Humanitarian Action, including the topics of Introduction, Essentials of HA & DRR, The Pre-Disaster Phase, The Post Disaster Phase, Risk Management and Safe from Harm, Partnerships & Collaborations, HA in the Youth Programme, Group work drafting policies, Closing Session. At the end of the capacity-building training, the NSO leaders then worked together to build a draft HA policy for their NSO. All of this was guided by our Scouting and Humanitarian Action consultants, our experts in the field, to ensure that the correct considerations were taken into account for the policy content.
