Scouts Take Root: Growing Green Skills in the City

The project was inspired by the goal to advance green skills and empower youth with practical knowledge in sustainable urban agriculture, enabling them to grow food locally and contribute to healthier, more resilient communities.
The project was executed through a hands-on training session where Scouts and Scout Leaders learned essential vegetable gardening techniques, including soil preparation, seed planting, and understanding environmental factors like sunlight and water. With agricultural inputs provided by the Department of Agriculture, participants immediately applied their skills by starting their own urban garden plots.
The project demonstrated that practical, youth-led urban gardening can effectively build green skills and promote sustainable food practices. It highlighted the importance of adaptability and community support, as well as the value of providing the right resources to enable immediate action and long-term impact. #Scouts #ScoutsforSDG #GreenRising
