Scouts Acting for Climate in N’Djamena

My motivation for this project comes from the environmental challenges faced in Chad, such as pollution and climate change. As a scout leader, I believe young people must be part of the solution. Through “One Hour for the Planet,” I wanted to inspire scouts to take simple but meaningful actions like collecting waste, planting trees, and reflecting on their impact on the environment. My goal is to encourage youth to become responsible environmental ambassadors in their communities.
Chad scouts: For one hour we switched off lights/devices to reflect on our impact. Collected plastic, raised awareness, planted 20 trees & lit candles for commitment. Goal: motivate young people to make simple daily choices to protect the climate.
Through this project, I learned that small actions can create a big impact when people act together. I also realized that young people are very motivated to protect the environment when they are given the opportunity to participate. This initiative showed me the importance of community engagement and environmental education in creating lasting change
