School Facilities Recovery After Sumatra Flood
The floods that have struck Sumatra since the end of 2026 have changed the lives of many people. The relentless rain caused destruction overnight. In several locations, many houses were swept away or buried, as well as educational facilities.
The University of Indonesia Scouts, together with Iluni UI through the 100 Musicians Heal Sumatra program, distributed learning facility assistance, study equipment, and logistical aid to students and teachers affected in West Sumatra and North Sumatra across 8 schools.
We learned that being present, playing together, and creating a joyful safe space is powerful psychosocial support. Genuine care through Scout games and shared laughter can heal young survivors. Emotional recovery doesn't need complex solutions—it starts with a smile and making them feel seen.
