Keeping our university community clean
The project was inspired by our observation that the area beside the old Fine Arts building, close to the school health center, was gradually turning into a refuse dump. As scouts, we could not watch the environment deteriorate. Inspired by our motto to ‘Be Prepared’ and the principle of leaving every place better than we found it, we decided to take action in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 11 on Sustainable Cities and Communities.
On the 30th August , 1st and 3rd of September 2025, Bouesti Scout Troop carried out an environmental sanitation project beside the old Fine Arts building, close to the school health center. Although the place was not a designated dump site, it had been turned into one by people. As scouts committed to Sustainable Development Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), we decided to restore the environment and set an example for other students.
Through this project, we learned that teamwork and unity make even difficult tasks easier. We discovered that leadership is not only about giving instructions but also about working alongside others. The project deepened our understanding of environmental care, reminding us that small efforts can create lasting change. We also learned that community service brings respect and appreciation, while challenges such as lack of equipment can be overcome through creativity and cooperation.
