Humanitarian Action Education Project
The project was inspired by increasing humanitarian challenges in the region and the need to strengthen community preparedness. As Scouts, we aimed to equip youth and leaders with practical skills in disaster response and humanitarian action to better serve their communities.
The project was delivered through two regional activities. An online workshop engaged 220 Scout leaders on crisis and disaster response. A regional in-person meeting brought together 40 participants from 12 National Scout Organizations to strengthen humanitarian action and resilience within Scouting programs.
The project showed that combining practical training with Scout values significantly strengthens preparedness and confidence in crisis response. We learned that interactive methods, peer learning, and regional knowledge exchange increase engagement and retention. The experience also highlighted the importance of coordination, clear communication, and inclusive participation to build resilient Scout leaders who can transfer learning into real community action.
