Elevating Arab Region Empowerment & Excellence
The Elevating Arab Region Empowerment & Excellence project was developed to strengthen the Messengers of Peace initiative across the Arab Region, empower young people to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals, and support National Scout Organizations (NSOs) in building stronger and more effective Scouting programmes. Through youth engagement, capacity building, WOSM Services, and good governance support through GSAT, the project aimed to create more opportunities for learning, collaboration, and positive change across the region.
The project brought together four interconnected areas of work: Messengers of Peace, Scouts for SDGs, WOSM Services, and good governance through GSAT. Activities included regional communications, workshops, knowledge sharing, and tailored support to NSOs. One of the highlights was the first regional Scouts for SDGs workshop, which brought together 36 participants to explore how Scouting can contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. Overall, the project reported 60 direct Scout beneficiaries and 188 direct and indirect beneficiaries, while supporting NSOs in strengthening their capacities and improving their organizational practices.
The experience highlighted the importance of realistic planning, regular follow-up, and close coordination with NSOs. It also reminded us that every organization has different needs, and meaningful progress comes from listening, adapting, and providing the right support. Beyond the numbers, the project reinforced the value of working together to build stronger Scouting programmes and create lasting opportunities for young people. This work was supported through the Messengers of Peace Fund, made possible by the generous support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in partnership with World Scouting and the World Scout Foundation.
