Beach Cleaning at Marina Beach
We were inspired by the need to protect our environment and keep our coastline clean. Marina Beach is one of the most visited beaches in Chennai, but it faces heavy littering. By taking up this project, we wanted to raise awareness among the public, reduce pollution, and contribute to Sustainable Development Goals such as clean water, life below water, and sustainable communities.
Our team of six Scouts planned and organized a beach cleaning activity at Marina Beach. We divided ourselves into groups to cover different sections of the beach, collected plastic and other waste, and handed it over to the local waste management authorities for proper disposal. We also interacted with visitors to raise awareness about keeping the beach clean.
We learned the importance of teamwork, planning, and coordination while conducting community service. The project also taught us how much impact even a small group can have on the environment and how important it is to raise awareness among the public about keeping public spaces clean.
