1st Durbanville Scouts Clear Alien Vegetation

Every year the 1st Durbanville Scouts head to Hawequas Scout Ranch in Wellington in the Western Cape to donate service hours to this magical venue where our Scouts spend so many happy hours camping during the year.

This year 1st Durbanville set aside several hours during their annual Troop camp to clear away alien vegetation at Hawequas Scout Ranch in Wellington in the Western Cape. No fewer than 30 Scouts and several adult leaders grabbed hacksaws, axes and shovels, and several hours later a large tract of alien vegetation and dead branches had been cleared.

Our Scouts learned to recognize types of alien vegetation and why this needs to be cleared on a regular basis. They also learned to work together as a team to clear a vast area which had become logged with dead branches and other vegetation.
