Whole-School Scouting for Youth Resilience

What inspired you to take up the project?

I was inspired to coordinate the Whole-School Scouting Approach to engage 589 Scouts from Classes V, VII, and IX through a specialized curriculum. The programme develops values, leadership, practical skills, physical fitness, and mental resilience while preparing students for Gyalsung and addressing mental health, bullying, and substance abuse. It supports SDGs 3, 4, 16, and 17.

What are the learnings you got from implementing this project and how would you make it better?

I learned the importance of leadership, teamwork, coordination, and collaboration in implementing a whole-school Scouting programme. I also realized that a structured, grade-specific curriculum helps develop Scouts’ values, practical skills, physical fitness, and mental resilience while preparing them for Gyalsung and responsible citizenship.

Where was your project implemented and how did you execute it?

I coordinated weekly Friday Scouting programmes during both terms, following the specialized curriculum handbooks for Classes V, VII, and IX. With support from the school administration, Scout Leaders, advance team members, and Youth Leaders, the programme engaged 589 Scouts in developing leadership, teamwork, practical skills, physical fitness, and mental resilience while preparing them for Gyalsung and raising awareness of mental health, bullying, and substance abuse.
