TSAM: Days that led to innovation and progress

In line with the priority on child safeguarding efforts, The Scout Association of Mongolia conducted a review and assessment of their National Safe from Harm (SfH) policy and procedures. This was carried out after a successful SfH policy development workshop and listening ear training that was held from 13-18 June 2024.  This workshop has now capacitated the association to update the child safeguarding policies and processes.

The policy is also a significant priority for the National Scout Jamboree to make sure the activities and overall scouting journey is safe for every group for each individual to experience the scouting journey to the fullest. Over the next nine months, the Scout Association of Mongolia will be focusing on applying what they learned from both the Policy and Procedures Development Workshop and Listening Ear Training, with the aim of achieving a significant milestone in their child safeguarding efforts.

With the expansion of the child protection policy, the Scout Association of Mongolia is proactively working to improve the principles and documents that adhere to its activities. This is in line with the World Scouting policy on safeguarding and child protection and overall international standards, ensuring participation in the scouting are risk-free and adheres to the needs of young people alongside adults. This proactive approach demonstrates the commitment to continuous improvement. The next phase of this workshop involves revising and further developing the National Safe from Harm Policy and Procedures.

The workshop was guided by a dedicated professional team, including Malcolm Tan Ban Hoe, Mohammad Laiyin Nento, and Syd Castillo, led by the esteemed Regional Director of the WOSM Asia-Pacific Region, J Rizal C. Pangilinan.
