Learning can be really boring sometimes, but that's the opposite of what happens there... NYLT Leadership Academy is a course that encourage yout o become a better staffer for leadership courses.How to teach leadership is not an easy task but this course took that challenge and I can assure you they complete it. One of the best ways to describe this course is “WORTH IT” this course worth every early waking up, every night we slept less than 8 hours, every smile, every presentation, every frustration we felt, every joke, every laugh, and more. As I didn't know exactly was I was getting into my first question to one of the person that made this happen (Jenn Hancock amazing woman) was “Is this worth it?” and as usual she didn't let me down. You may wonder now, why am I saying this, let me explain myself. The atmosphere in a place is very important for our development. There they have this idea of making NYLT something call “SPECIAL PLACE” that means, a place where you can BE YOURSELF, knowing that you'll be pysically and emotional secure. Even though this may sound simple is not. There aren't many places where you can actually be yourself and not fear to be criticize or hurt. This very important beacuse if you want to improve yourself and be the best version you can be, means that the first step is being yourself. Thst gived you the freedom and confidence that helps the way we learn to for instance give presentations. In addition to that, the contents that we learn aren't useful just for scout events or activities but for life. What we learn there for example, how to make presentations interesting, how to deliver feedback and different ways of doing so, how to make activitied in a confort way without changing the content, etc are things that you can apply to collage, school, proyects you've on your own, or just for something simple as is to give your opinion on something. Moreover particulary for me what I can take with me for life is the fact that made me BELIEVE in myself and gave me the confidence to be the best version of me that I can be. Because I can, because everyone can. Yes, it's a lot of hardwork but as BP used to say “The best workers, like the happiest livers, look upon their work as a kind of game: the harder they play the more enjoyable it becomes.” and is with all the enthusiasm and happiness that staffers share and transmit that working to be better is fun. To sum up, the NYLT Leadership Academy it's a MUST. If you ever have the chance to go I strongly recommend you to just give one week of your life because the experience will stick with you your whole life.
