Liberia Scout Association faces significant challenges in governance, leadership, and safeguarding that limit its ability to serve as a safe and trusted platform for young people. Weak governance structures and limited leadership skills among board members and executives hinder transparency, accountability, and effective decision-making. In addition, the absence of robust safeguarding policies leaves children and youth vulnerable to harm and reduces trust in Scouting as a protective, empowering space. Without stronger structures, leaders lack the tools to deliver inclusive, high-quality programmes that can inspire young people and engage them in positive community action. What change will this project bring about to address the above issue? The "Strengthening Governance and Safeguarding in Liberia Scout Association" initiative aims to build the Liberia Scout Organization’s capacity by enhancing governance structures, leadership skills, and safeguarding practices. Through targeted training and policy development, it empowers leaders at all levels to deliver safe, inclusive, and impactful Scouting programmes aligned with global standards. The project reaches 80 direct beneficiaries and an estimated 4,000 youth and community members, fostering accountability, sustainable growth, and positioning Scouting as a trusted force in national youth development.
