Woodbadge Course: Cub Scouts & Junior Scouts (Stage 3; Part 1)

A total of 32 participants enrolled to attend Stage 3; Part 1 of the Woodbadge Course organised by the Petaling District of the Malaysian Scouts Association which was held from 26th-28th August 2016 at SK Bandar Utama Damansara 2. Stage 3 of the Woodbadge training programme is meant for Scout Leaders who has successfully completed Stage 1 and aspiring to be a trained Leader. Stage 3; Part 1 is an advance course for Leaders and in the first part of stage 3, Leaders will be attending sit down lecture courses which comprises of patrol system, Scout troop organization and badge progression to name a few. As Scouting is ever changing, Trainers and participants are constantly sharing their point of views to enable a 2 way learning program. This is especially useful as most Scout troops are school based troops whereby volunteer leaders are able to get an insight and understanding of how from the school teachers (Troop Scout Leader) on how letters and approvals get escalated upwards to towards the school authorities. As part of a global community and efforts to go green, waste separation was practiced by both participants and the organizing team whereby plastics were disposed into 1 bag for recycling, paper into another and perishable items into another. As the course progresses to Part 2, the participants should be expecting less lectures and more hands-on experience which is scheduled in October 2016 with a real jungle-styled camping course.
