COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECT TO PROMATE MATERNAL HEALTH I Advithi Kottary from St. Theresas Guide Company along with a group of guides of my own company have undertaken a six months community development project in association to one of the requirements for Rashtrapati Puraskar Badge. We have put up 24-services hours in our project which is based on the topic To Promote Maternal Health. We have had many ideas through which we have been able to convey to the people our message in the most effective manner possible. We used various means of mass communication such as distribution of pamphlets. We searched for pamphlets on the Internet and found a few very interesting ones which we thought distributing among the public would make sure that they understood importance of promotion of maternal health. Thus we printed out these pamphlets and have distributed them among as many people as possible. The pamphlets that we utilized are uploaded below. We also conducted session. We made sure that our sessions were simple and in an easy language so that the people who we were communicating with us would understand what we were saying. As we had conducted many sessions we were also able to hear the ideas and thoughts that other people had to convey. We made sure that the following sessions included these ideologies. We also had asked people to sign a few pledges to ensure promotion of maternal health. Through this way we made sure that people got the message and told other people to promote maternal health. We also had a beautiful idea of uploading these social causes on social media platforms so that as many people as possible could get the message. Social media platforms have a wide outreach and can be used to reach a large number of people which is not possible by normal methods. Social media was the best place to get such socially important messages to a large number of people. We made sure that we were able to reach out to a large number of people and tell them about the importance to improve maternal health. After all the health of a mother directly depends and decides the health of the newborn infant. We must ensure that the maternal mortality and child mortality is reduced as it is one of the major and pressing problems that India faces today. And through this community development project we were able to contribute a little bit in creating awareness for this social issue.
