PROMOTING THE BETTER WORLD FRAMEWORK AND PEACE CULTURE

INTRODUCTION Through Better World Program whereby about 500 scouts and non-scouts participants had attended different classes took part theoretically and practically where the had acquired skilful knowledge over various topics related to MoP, Scout Go Solar Project, The Food for life Africa Program, Global Active Citizen, Peace and Dialogue, U-Report project, Promotion of www.scout.org, Quiz card all these have significant value to contribute a change on community development and young people empowerment as such the invested commitment heighten scout contribution to create better world which is ultimate promote achievement of 2023 vision and mission. Besides, the better World Framework has presented emulation as guidance within scout Youth Program that is continuously being implemented through National MoP Ambassadors who will cascade the knowledge and skills over Regional, District to grass root local level. OBJECTIVES • Train MoP Ambassadors. • Train Dialogue Facilitators. • Develop MoP coordinator for TSA. WORKSHOP DISCRIPTION 1. THE GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT VILLAGE (GDV). The Regional Development Village has offered potential opportunity for Strategic local partners to participate and share knowledge and experience that inspired and motivate young people to positively realize their potential role in their community as good citizen and also creatively seek a relative scouting framework for Partnership collaboration. An example of Partners who collaborated during ASD were Commission of Drug Control and prevention, Prevention and combating of corruption Bureau, TACAIDS (Tanzania Commission for prevention of HIV/AIDS), and Beverage companies. 2. MESSENGERS OF PEACE WORKSHOP. The Messengers of Peace is an initiative that inspire young people throughout the world to work for the cause of scouting. Through this initiative the Tanzania Scouts Association design this project to promote the Better World Framework as well as grow the Messengers of Peace Network in Tanzania and across the Region. OBJECTIVES • Train MoP Ambassadors. • Train Dialogue Facilitators. • Develop MoP coordinator for TSA. TRAINING AND STATISTICS The workshop realized 24 participants with facilitation from Murtadhwa R. (Messengers f Peace Coordinator - Tanzania) Pauline K.(Kenya), and Paddington J.(Zimbabwe) . It ran for a total number of 2 days, 09-10 March, during the Africa scout day celebrations. The workshop covered the whole basic elements of MoP which gave the participants a fundamental understanding of the MoP concept. Although we started a little bit late with limited resources, we managed to meet the set objectives as prescribed by the growth menu. In the workshop were international participants from Uganda, Zimbabwe, Italy and Kenya and this brought an interactive sharing experience with real motion towards sustainable growth. Challenges in represented countries were discussed as a result people acquired enhanced understanding for informed decision. To achieve the most against our aspirations, the scout method was used as a vehicle to deliver tasks amongst the workshop participants. We had 4 four teams who carried a name of a touristic place in Tanzania and were as follows 1. Serengeti 2. Mikumi 3. Sadan 4. Tanganyika With much commitment and after real deep thinking regarding the global trends, the workshop committed themselves to spreading the word of peace and inspire thousands of people by 2023. MESSENGERS OF PEACE WORKSHOP For sustainability and result achieving, a communication strategy developed is to be implemented locally by TSA in order to keep track of the trained national Ambassadors. The strategy also includes appointing from a pool of trained ambassadors to become coordinators in each entity to the national office and supporting them to achieve the most. ACHIEVEMENTS • 24 Ambassadors Trained from 5 Countries. • Well delivered 2-day training. • 31 MoP Coordinators developed for Tanzania. CONCLUSION This training gave a step towards achieving regional goals set in January in Nairobi, Kenya this year. 3. DIALOGUE WORKSHOP Dialogue Workshop has inspired majority of youth understood in depth key issues around peace culture that will be mainstreamed in Youth Forum agenda. The topics are translated into local realities to suit practical social experiences and for concrete solutions, again this will be under the guidance of MoP Ambassadors at all scout administrative areas. OBJECTIVES • Train Dialogue Facilitators. TRAINING AND STATISTICS The workshop realized 24 participants with facilitation from Murtadhwa R. (Messengers f Peace Coordinator - Tanzania) Ahimbisiwe F. (Uganda), and Solomon I.(Nigeria) . It ran for a total number of 2 days, 09-10 March, during the Africa scout day celebrations. The workshop covered the whole basic elements of Dialogue which gave the participants a fundamental understanding of the Dialogue concept. Although we started a little bit late with limited resources, we managed to meet the set objectives as prescribed by the growth menu. In the workshop were international participants from Uganda, Zimbabwe, Italy and Kenya and this brought an interactive sharing experience with real motion towards sustainable growth. Challenges in represented countries were discussed within the now enhanced understanding of the Dialogue initiative. To achieve the most against our aspirations, the scout method was used a vehicle to deliver tasks amongst the workshop participants. With much commitment and after real deep thinking regarding the global trends, the workshop committed themselves to spreading the word of peace and inspire thousands of people by 2023.
