Green Rooftops, Bright Futures- 2025

As a proud member of BIAM Model School and College Scout Group (BMSCSG), I wanted to make my home environment greener and more colorful. By planting Malabar spinach and moss rose on our rooftop and painting trees, I aimed to reduce rooftop heat, create a small source of fresh food, and spread awareness about caring for nature.
I prepared tubs with soil, planted Malabar spinach (edible) and moss rose (decorative) on my rooftop, and watered them regularly. I also painted nearby trees to protect them from insects and give them a fresh, clean look. I took photos at every step and monitored the growth of the plants every day.
I learned how rooftop gardening helps reduce heat, purify air, and create a calm space. I gained hands-on experience in planting and caring for living things and understood how small actions can support SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land). This project taught me responsibility, consistency, and how even children can contribute to a greener planet.
