First Aid
1st Malubana saw the need of first aid training at Ahitirheni crèche and started an ECD project called “First Aid” which was led by Khensani Malubana. Two other crèches and one drop in centre attended then training.
The following equipment were distributed among them, gloves, refuse bags, wipes, manuals, first aid kits and refills. The Scouts had a meeting with the Board of trustees, they discussed their expectations after the training, when and how they can do future trainings.
The school teachers have learned how to use and maintain the first aid kit and they have learned how to perform first aid. The Group will be doing regular visits to check if the school is implementing what they have learned.
The training impressed the teachers. They promised that they are going to use the knowledge and teach the children what they have learned. The teachers were shown how to do CPR and the importance of scene management.
The teachers realised after the training that their knowledge was old standard and they were happy about the new knowledge. The Scouts supported this project by providing first aid manuals. These manuals are now available to be used by the ECD centre.
