Don't be mean, keep city clean

I was inspired to take up the project by my fellow scout who encouraged me to help the community in any way I can. My seniors kept on reminding me that the little things that you do will make a great difference. The town area where I lived was full of waste, the environment were all dirty. I yearned to see the town clean with no waste visible, where everywhere was clean. For this, I took on this project of cleaning my town on February 5th, which is the Birth Anniversary of our Prince.
The project was implemented at Mongar, Bhutan. We focused mostly on the public areas since most of the waste was concentrated there such as the Youth Center, the Clock tower and the Public ground. The project was executed by me and two other leaders alongside with our fellow scout members and youth volunteers. We first cleaned at the clock tower area, than we went to the public ground picking up the waste along the way and finally we gathered and cleaned the youth center.
The people that were benefited from this project were the town people and the people who were residing besides it as well as the tourists who visits our country. The people were being benefited as we took on this project they became motivated and inspired that they wanted to help us by providing us the materials such as sack and gloves. The people were happy that the environment was now cleaned which made them want to visit the place even more.
From this I have learned that to make the world a better place we must bring the change first. The world is facing a bigger threat such as global warming and climate change, by picking a paper we are overcoming it. I have also learned that every little actions makes a difference. The project did face some struggle such as not being able to collect the waste in risky areas. For this, I would have made it better by using a long stick to collect the waste.
