Climate Hero Batam
I started this project because I believe it’s important for Scouts to learn about the climate crisis. Scouting teaches us to care for nature, so I felt compelled to take action. When I met old friends from the U.S. and Batam, I had the chance to share what I know about climate change and start meaningful conversations with them.
I organized a four-hour Climate Hero session. We started with basic information about climate change, then talked about how Scouts can take action and make a difference. I shared real examples of climate problems and asked participants to look at issues around them. In the end, they worked in groups to come up with ideas and actions they can do in their own communities to help solve the climate crisis.
I learned that many Scouts already understand the environmental and climate challenges around them. What we need to focus on now is working together to turn that awareness into real actions, so we can include meaningful climate solutions in our scouting activities.
